Wolverine had fire claws before using them to save Ghost Rider’s life. After returning from the dead, his healing factor allowed him to activate the Burning Claws, which made his built-in weapons even stronger, but at the cost of slowing his healing factor powers. However, Wolverine gets a new variant of his hot claws, as Johnny Blaze lends him his Hellfire power to aid him as a demonic attack takes over his body. As a result, Wolverine’s claws glow like never before as they embrace the Hellfire.
In ghost rider #6 by Marvel Comics’ VC’s Benjamin Percy, Brent Peeples, Bryan Valenza, and Travis Lanham, Ghost Rider struggles with a demon inside his body, affecting his Spirit of Vengenace powers. Things reach a breaking point as Wolverine uses his claws to cut off parts of the demonic entities inside Johnny Blaze’s body, much to his horror. Ghost Rider begs Wolverine to kill him as his infection takes on its most ominous form. In a last ditch effort to save Blaze, Wolverine asks him to try summoning the Spirit of Vengeance, and when he does, Ghost Rider guides his claws to his Hellfire, giving the mutant hero the power upgrade he needs. needs to eliminate the demons.
Thanks to the Hellfire upgrade from Wolverine’s claws, he is able to use Ghost Rider’s powers to exorcise the demons inside Johnny Blaze, burning them and cutting them from his body. However, as Wolverine rescues Ghost Rider from the demonic entity, he unfortunately doesn’t disappear, as when the pair leave the bar, he clings to one of the patrons who previously attacked Logan.
Seeing Wolverine get a Spirit of Vengeance power upgrade to save Johnny Blaze is an incredibly harsh but gruesome scene. The Hellfire gives Logan the powers to save Ghost Rider as it cuts the demons out of him as they emerge from his body. Monsters killing Blaze from within could be removed from him through Wolverines interventions, but Ghost Rider the battle with the dark forces seems far from over. At least the hero has Logan by his side to face whatever comes next.
