A FORMER Mount Gambier dressage and horse training sensation will test the bond with his mount on the world stage this weekend.
John Thompson will compete in the 2022 World Equestrian Games in Denmark, following a
Thompson is currently based in Sydney, but rides for New Zealand, his native country, where he owns and operates an equestrian facility.
He moved to Australia when he was 12, where his family settled in Mount Gambier.
Thompson completed her education at Tenison Woods College, while nurturing her love for all things horse at the Mount Gambier Pony Club.
He dabbled in all equestrian disciplines, before deciding to focus on dressage.
Thompson left the Limestone Coast aiming to pursue his riding career, with his most recent Grand Prix success being held in Sydney in April.
He and horse JT Chemistry won the dressage class, while finishing second in the special dressage category.
He will be looking to continue his success on the black stallion over the next week, with the World Dressage Games starting tomorrow and continuing until Wednesday.
