SC motorcyclist dies in crash, says Highway Patrol


The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision.

A motorcyclist died on Saturday after an accident on a road in the Midlands on Saturday evening.

The unidentified biker lost control of his bike and overturned on Lachicotte Road near US 601 south of Lugoff, according to SC Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. Saturday, Highway Patrol Master Trooper Gary Miller said. No other vehicles were reportedly involved in the crash, Miller said.

The rider was identified as Ronny Layton Jr., 57, of Lugoff by the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office.
