Illegal e-scooter driver in Littleport triggers police warning

Residents have received a timely reminder of the law after an electric scooter user was arrested in East Cambridgeshire.
A person has been arrested on Littleport High Street by officers after they were found illegally riding an electric scooter.
In a Facebook post, Cambridgeshire Police warned that anyone caught riding one for the second time will have their e-scooter confiscated.
‘Until e-scooter legislation is released, the East Cambs Borough Police Team are issuing a leaflet and warning letter to anyone caught riding one,’ they said. they stated.
“Currently, an e-scooter cannot be driven on a road or trail.
“The only place they can be used is on private land, with permission from the land owner.”
In October 2020, Cambridge was chosen to accommodate 12-month electric scooter trials.
The city is one of more than 30 regions in England to take part in the trialsMPs previously calling for electric scooters to be legalized on the roads.
