SAN ANGELO, TX – Saddle Bronc rider Lucas Macza finished his race with 81 points, but that was after the horse descended from the pickup truck which was hard to watch
The horse Sky Fall could be heard making contact with the Canadian cowboy who immediately fell. Macza would be carried off the arena floor with the help of the Justin Sports medical team, rodeo officials and other cowboys. It was later announced that Macza was conscious as he suffered a severe facial laceration and a broken jaw. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lucas Macza for a speedy recovery.
Despite the ferocity of the savage broncs, on the other side of the bronc riding, Tim O’Connell was able to move up to second overall in bareback thanks to an 85-point score on the Rafter H bronc Storm Cloud.
Manny Diaz had the chance to chat with the three-time NFR champion. He offered a very comprehensive analysis of his race.
