Food delivery boy receives online praise for rescuing lost senior

PETALING JAYA: A 24-year-old food delivery boy decided to put his job aside to help an elderly person get home.
Muhammad Khuzaimie Lemat met an elderly woman who had gotten lost on his way to work.
In a TikTok video that went viral on the internet, he said the woman arrested him and asked for his help in sending her home.
“She told me to send her home. I took her on my bike but she kept telling me to go further. She said her house number was nine.
“I wanted to go to work this morning, but this aunt stopped me and asked for my help to send her home.
“I think this aunt doesn’t know where her house is.
“I think I should take her to the police station, I’m afraid she’s lost because she says she doesn’t remember the location of the house,” said Muhammad Khuzaimie, who also fluent in Mandarin.
Contacted by mStar, the Melakan said he met the woman while on his way to receive food orders placed online around Bandar Puteri Puchong in Selangor.
However, before he could receive the delivery note, he was stopped by the woman.
“I have been delivering food for three years.
“At the time of the incident, the woman was alone on the side of the road before suddenly stopping my motorbike.
“Auntie said to me ‘boy, please send him back… my legs hurt because I’m tired from walking, my house is nearby’.
“When she told me, she sounded very confident.
“But after I jumped on my motorbike, she kept telling me to go straight and said her house number was nine.
“However, she couldn’t remember the name of the road or the name of the park…
“When I asked her, she said she couldn’t remember.
“It was only then that I suspected she was senile,” he said, adding that he surrendered to fate when he picked up the octogenarian woman without wearing a helmet.
After circling for 20 minutes in several other areas of the surrounding park, Mohammad Khuzaimie decided to pull over to the side of the road and call the police.
He then sent the old woman to the station and made a statement.
While at the police station, the police found a photocopy of the old woman’s son’s identity card.
So the police managed to get a phone number and contact his next of kin.
“I went with aunt and waited for her son to pick her up because I was afraid she would run out of the police station.
“At the same time, aunt looked like she was sitting inside anxiously, so I asked her to wait outside while I chatted with her,” he said.
Mohammad Khuzaimie added that he had been told that the elderly person often left the house and that it was the first time that she had been taken to the police station.
“Her 45-year-old son informed me that the aunt was still leaving the house and the family was looking for her in the area.
“He also said the aunt left because she wanted to find another child,” he added.
Speaking in more detail about his experience, Mohammad Khuzaimie said the elderly person seemed happy to be able to ride a motorbike.
Previously, his video had been watched by almost 500,000 people after seven hours of uploading on the TikTok app.
Netizens who watched praised Mohammad Khuzaimie’s actions and his concern to help the elderly people involved even though he had not yet received an order, in addition to being surprised because he was fluent in Mandarin.
