Disney animator turns Flynn Rider into a giant 2D octopus

Whenever you’re having a bad day, you just need something fun to cheer you up. Sometimes people go to YouTube and watch cute cat videos. Sometimes people go on TikTok and see a number of funny dances. And sometimes all you need to do is watch a fun animation made by a professional animator. Today something like this happened and it gets a lot of attention.
Disney animator Adam Green took it upon himself to “update” a sequence he originally worked on in the 2010 Disney animated film Tangled. The sequence was where Rapunzel, Flynn Rider AKA Eugene and Maximus arrive at the castle for the first time. But in this little segment, Adam turned Flynn into a 2D animated octopus.
My quest to animate in 2D a giant octopus all over my #disneyanimation shots in my free time continues. I don’t know why 🐙#roughanimator #2danimation #tangled #octopus pic.twitter.com/ykcEHJHXTD

Adam Green is an animator who began his professional career in 2008 working on films such as Horton hears a who of Blue Sky Studios and Lock from Disney. He also worked as an animator on the 2008 video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed at LucasArts.
He then worked on Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs for BlueSky in 2009 before finding permanent residence at Disney. He continued to work in the 2010s Tangled and its short sequel Tangled forever as well as the second and third Preparation and landing shorts for ABC Family.
Over the years he has worked on films like Ralph’s Wrecks, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Moana, Ralph breaks the internet, Frozen II, Raya and the last dragon and Encanto. He has also worked on a number of Disney animated shorts such as Paperman, Get a horse!, Feast, gone fishing, Olaf’s Chilling Adventure and away from the tree.
He even worked on short circuit and Olaf presents for Disney+. Most recently, he did illustrations for a children’s picture book titled What’s Your Poo Poo Face? by Jason Mesnick and ZP Phillips.
With so much experience under his belt, one would imagine he would now have the opportunity to direct a feature film.
It’s very fascinating to watch him go back and bring his past work to life in a comedic way. As of this writing, the tweet has received over 56,000 likes and over 10,000 retweets.
Hopefully he keeps his promise and replaces the characters in his past work with more giant octopuses. Can you imagine seeing Raya talking to Octopus Sisu? It would be hilarious.
