As the dust settled inside AT&T Stadium in The American Rodeopresented by Teton Ridge Sunday night, just eight seconds turned into the biggest single-day paycheck of the talented third-generation cowboy’s career.

“I grew up with sports,” Pacheco said after the event. “My father rode bulls; my uncles were bulls and bullfighters. I was also determined to be a bull. I love this sport.”

Shortly after arriving in the United States, Pacheco won the 2015 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Rookie of the Year award and has been excelling ever since. Quickly rising through the ranks of the PBR World Rankings, the young Brazilian went on to claim the prestigious PBR World Championship title in 2018.

“I can’t describe this moment,” the 27-year-old continued. “I always dreamed of winning the American Rodeo and I finally did it.”

Returning to the championship round after being pushed back earlier in the day, Pacheco knew he was embarking on a race that could change his life forever. Paired with an athletic bovine named “County Jail”, Pacheco remained calm, matching the animal hop-for-hop for an impressive 89 points.
