Board Chair Rebecca Saltzman said she’s glad the first pilot phase will involve public universities because students at schools like UC Berkeley have already applied for a similar global pass, but often graduated before making much progress.

“It’s really hard to do them at community colleges, universities because of that, so having a set curriculum going forward would be incredibly helpful,” she said. “I’m so excited to move things forward and want to see what the pilot shows and how we can make this permanent and expand it.”
