Anurag Thakur launches ‘Fit India Freedom Rider Cycle Rally’ nationwide

NEW DELHI: Union Youth and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday launched a nationwide ‘Fit India Freedom Rider Cycle Rally’ from Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, Delhi to mark the occasion of World Bike Day 2022.

Anurag Thakur, accompanied by 750 young cyclists, covered a distance of 7.5 km during the cycling rally which started at Major Dhyan Chand stadium.
“Today on World Bicycle Day, we want to convey Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message to everyone. Fit India Movement, Khelo India Movement, Clean India Movement and Healthy India Movement can all be accomplished by cycling. It will also reduce the level of pollution,” Thakur said.

“On World Bike Day, across the country, thousands of cyclists joined us for the camping for fit India movement, the Khelo India movement, the Clean India movement and the Health India movement. , you can reduce the level of pollution, you can stay fit and you can also promote the Clean India campaign as there will be less pollution or no pollution by using bicycles,” he added.

Besides Thakur, Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandviya, Ministry of Culture and External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi and MPs Manoj Tiwari, Harsh Vardhan and Ramesh Bidhuri also attended the event.

Over 9.68 lakh kilometers of distance will be covered by 1.29 lakh young cyclists through the proposed cycling rallies staged today on World Bike Day 2022.

The objective of the cycling rallies held in the country is to encourage and motivate people to adopt cycling in their daily lives for physical fitness and to protect them against health disorders such as obesity, stress, anxiety and disease.

The cycling rallies across India on World Cycling Day were organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit [email protected] (ANI)
